Mistakes are the price of an interesting life

Today I’d like to discuss…..wrong orders. I have been laughing so much at people’s recollections of when they ordered the wrong thing intending to order something else. I have done this frequently.
When I first did an online food shop ever back in about 2009?? it was a huge monthly shop and the delivery driver stood on my doorstep with all the bags in my corridor and he was smirking at me.
“Did you also order some pasta?” he asked me.
“Yes..have you not got it?” I asked
He continued to smirk and said “yes I’ve definitely got it. It’s in the van I’ll go and get it.”
I was confused why he hadn’t just bought it in already. After a short time, he came waddling towards my door like a penguin heaving the bag of pasta between his legs. The “bag” was in fact a plastic sack that came up to his thighs!!! The delivery driver was huffing and puffing red faced carrying it with both hands. When he finally heaved it down like a tonne of bricks on my doorstep he said “eat a lot of pasta in this house?” we both howled with laughter!!! I’d got my weights mixed up.
Another time was when I rented my current house out to a friend of mine and I moved halfway up the country. I told my friend I would order some new pillows for all the beds there as I’d taken mine with me. This is the photo she sent me, from the shop…..
She then called me from the shop in crying hysterics asking me why I’d ordered 28 pillows (x2 in each bag!) and explained that the staff were all laughing at her including the customers in the store!!! She was the centre of attention! I had to arrange for a partial refund to return the pillows she didn’t need. I’d got my maths wrong. Again.
Today, my friend wanted a new cover for her kindle. She bought one online and was excited about receiving it. When it arrived she was confused….then collapsed with laughter. I took a photo of it……
She’s returning it, obviously.
Another friend of mine found this white vintage garden chair online that she thought would look beautiful in her garden. She purchased it and paid for delivery. A few days later a delivery driver knocked on her door with a parcel. She was confused. The garden chair turned out to be for a dolls house. Sadly I can’t find the photo of her trying to sit in it…….
