Bamboo-zled

Published by

on

This is my first attempt at Pantoum poetry, a verse form that originated in Malaysia in the 15th Century.

I learnt about Pantoums during a writing course in 2022 and the discipline of creating was a challenge indeed but very enjoyable. I love writing them!

I reflected on the loves I’d lost

As the bamboo mass crept closer

Possessing and shrouding my shoulders

With paper and paste and its secret place

As the bamboo mass crept closer

I stepped back despite a desire to follow

With paper and paste and its secret place

To immerse and forget and escape from this life

I stepped back despite a desire to follow

Will I see him inside? his body that left but soul lingers

To immerse and forget and escape from this life

He couldn’t cope so ran and that was always his way

Will I see him inside? his body left but soul lingers

Will his pain remain or will he be healed?

He couldn’t cope so ran and that was always his way

I reflected on the loves I lost

I hope you enjoyed this!
