The Sunshine Blogger Award!!

So, purely by accident I discovered, via Twitter, this morning that my blog has been nominated, by a fellow blogger, for an award called Sunshine Blogger. This award basically recognises blogs that bring joy and happiness to your world via the blogging scene. When I discovered this, I literally froze musical-statue-esque in my chair as I read the words. Someone likes my blog!!! Someone notices my presence!!! I bring joy to the world with my blog??!! Really??!!!

It’s a funny feeling when you write a blog. When I write my blog, I feel I am talking to my alter-ego or my reflection. I post it up and hope the world reads it – or at least my few devout followers (who I’ve paid substantially to shout “ya! Ya! So good! So good!”) But I throw it out there to the world and occasionally I’ll get a Like Like Like or a Follow Follow Follow but rarely more than that. No comments or messages back. I’m ok with this. I read lots of blogs and rarely comment or message myself. Having this sudden recognition though that SOMEONE has noticed you and really factored you into their thoughts is quite something though. It is such an adrenaline surge of gratitude and happiness!!

When I started this blog this year, I decided to try and maximise my audience by marketing it on social media. I have to admit I am a bit of a technophobe. Instagram – fine! Facebook – fine! Twitter – no idea what I’m doing!! So I don’t check Twitter very often but I’m slowly getting the hang of it. A bit like driving. I can drive, I can put fuel in. Checking my oil? shit!!!!! “Hello my mechanic…yes…..I forgot again!” Or inflating my tyres? They’ll do! “hey, have you got a flat tyre there?” erm…………

So, I would like to apologise profusely to @ARoseTintdWorld for only just reading her Tweet about nominating me 6 days after she actually nominated me and other bloggers she follows for the Sunshine Blogger award. I feel dreadful and am paranoid one of my followers now thinks on me as rude or ungrateful. I am neither. I promise. I’m just very Twitter-phobic but I am addressing that immediately as I am now discovering that Twitter is in fact very useful. I was once an instagram-phobe but now I’m addicted to it for my photography which gets lots of followers and likes……lopophotos…….if you want to follow me…..

Anyway, back to the point of this blog. @ARoseTintdWorld – thank you so much for considering my blog as one of your chosen nominees. I am immensely flattered that you consider it interesting to read and entertaining.

Whether it gets anywhere at all is another matter. But you recognised me so thank you. It means alot.

So, I have to include this here..…

“The Sunshine Blogger Award was created to showcase bloggers who are creative, uplifting, and inspiring. It also helps to bring recognition to so many talented and dedicated bloggers.”

There are a few rules to the award and nominations. These are:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you in your blog post and link back to her /his blog. Done!

2. Answer the questions the blogger asked you. Done!

3. Nominate some (please note the original rules said 11) new bloggers to receive the award and give them 11 questions you have chosen. See notes at bottom of my blog.

4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger award logo in your post on your blog. Done!

These were the questions that @ARoseTintdWorld posed to me:

  • Who is your celebrity crush? (If you have one)

Anne Hathaway. I love this woman. She is, to me, the epitome of beauty, elegance and femininity. Plus she is a great actor.

  • What was your favourite childhood toy?

My Barbie and Sindy dolls. I would dress them up, take them on trips with me in their “appropriate clothing” and tell them secrets at night!

  • What would you say your favourite film ever is?

Gosh that is so hard! I have a childhood film “The Rescuers” that I made my family take me to see 1000 times, buy all the books etc. I have a favourite ‘family film’, “Mary Poppins” that is just pure escapism for me. I have a favourite film “Lion” that just makes me sob and want to stand up in the cinema and scream “YEH!!!!” through pure joy at the outcome! There are so many I could list!

  • If you could invite 4 dinner guests (dead or alive) who would they be?

The Dalai Lama – for pure life lessons, Lionel Richie – my lifelong idol, Paulo Coelho the writer for his amazing stories and wisdom, Henry VIII for entertainment and a history lesson

  • Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Wars

  • What do you spend the most time doing in a day other than sleeping?

  • If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you choose?

New Zealand. Again. Never fallen in love with a country so much as here.

  • Who is your favourite author?

Paulo Coelho

  • What would you do if you could pick a perfect day?

Rent a beautiful classic car, have a handsome man in the passenger seat and a backseat full of picnic baskets and blankets then drive with the roof down to a quiet secluded spot high up on a scenic hill overlooking either the ocean or a city where we could talk all day and watch the sunset.

  • How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Kind, funny, daydreamer

  • What is the best mistake that you ever made?

Drinking too much at social events. Turned me sober, lost weight and realised that I don’t need an alcoholic crutch to be entertaining! I just need to breathe to make people laugh!!

To date, I am still researching bloggers I enjoy reading. I have only got about 3 or 4 so far. Blogging and reading blogs takes up SO much time when you’re a single mum, working from home, cleaning the house and also doing a writing course to get that novel published one day AND oh yeh having a life! In time I will promote the bloggers I find really interesting and funny and worthy of your attention. I’m getting there so please bear with me.

Thanks for following me everyone and please keep sharing if you think anything I write is of any interest whatsoever / mildly amusing / distracting / thought-provoking etc etc! xx
